WELCOME to our new site
It's enough to give you second thoughts about heading to the beach. The number of skin cancers diagnosed in the US continues to increase each year, estimated now at 700,000 new cases annually.
The rate of malignant melanoma is increasing at 6% per year, faster than any other type of cancer, and currently one in six Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Fortunately, skin cancer is one of the most curable forms of cancer -- if discovered early. Successful treatment relies on detecting subtle changes in the size, shape and coloration of moles on the skin over time. If a mole is found to have changed from one examination to the next, a surgical biopsy may be performed to determine if the suspicious lesion is indeed cancerous. Clearly, the crucial step in this process lies with the examination and detection of the skin for any unusual changes.
On this site you will find information about common skin complaints in our database which also offers help in identifying some of these conditions.
Use the menu on the left hand side of the screen to navigate through the main sections of the site including a regularly updated news section and a FAQ where you will find the answers to some common questions. In addition to this you can also find skin care and common treatments as well as links to other related sites.
